Indiana Grand Supports Thoroughbred Aftercare with a 5K Donation to Friends of Ferdinand Inc.

We are thrilled to announce that Indiana Grand Racing and Casino has continued its support to Friends of Ferdinand Inc (FFI) and thoroughbred aftercare in 2016. Indiana Grand's staff and management have always been very supportive of FFI, year after year.

Friends of Ferdinand was invited to the winners circle on July 16th, 2016 after the 1st race of the 22nd running of the Indiana Derby for a check presentation and an opportunity to shake hands with Jon Schuster, Vice President and General Manager of Racing. We are always grateful for the opportunity to assist horses retiring from racing in Indiana and the Midwest. This donation will fully fund the rehabilitation, retraining and adoption of 2 horses retiring from racing in 2016. As we look towards the end of the meet this donation is timely as there are always more thoroughbreds whose racing careers have ended than we are able to assist. An ongoing and developing partnership with Indiana Grand is crucial to our mission to be a safety net for retiring racehorses.

Friends of Ferdinand is Indiana's only 501c3 non-profit equine organization that is dedicated to retired racehorses, and the only organization in Indiana that has undergone 3rd party review and accreditation by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA). Currently, only 56 equine organizations in North America can boast that they are TAA accredited, and we are proud to represent Indiana in this elite group.
