Hot on Ice
15.3 Hands Tall, 2011 Mare
Hook and Ladder-Talamanca
Adoption fee - $1,000
Occasionally, but not often do we recommend one of our horses for younger riders, and when we do, we can safely say they are worth their weight in GOLD. Ice is a happy, affectionate and people oriented mare that was lightly raced with only 12 starts and has had about a year off. Ice would do very very well with her own horse crazy girl. She's going walk, trot, canter very reliably on a loose rein and is starting over poles and small fences.
Ice is very much a Hunter: Hunter Under Saddle and Hunter over small fences is very much right up her alley. She'd be a great 4-H horse for the family looking for their 1st horse (of course under the supervision and guidance of a trainer) that is wanting to do local shows. She looks like a Quarter Horse, moves like a Hunter and has the heart of a thoroughbred = the perfect combination!
Ice does need shoes on her fronts, so she would not be suitable for a die-hard barefoot enthusiast. Ice also prefers to live outside 24/7 so we will be looking for a home that is not intending to stall her and is equipped with plenty of pasture with adequate shelter available. With that said, she is a thoroughbred and will need to be grained 2x a day and provided good quality hay.
Ice also prefers lots of attention and rides. If she's left to her own devices for a week or two, you can expect her to be a little strong under saddle at first. Therefore, the kid that seems to always want to be at the barn fussing with the horses is a great match for her.
